A stunning and unusual Blackamoor banded agate cameo ring from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This incredible piece is crafted in 14kt yellow gold and features an oval-shaped Blackamoor cameo resting on a decorative gemstone band. A single banded agate stone was exquisitely hand-carved to form the cameo, with?a raised profile carved from the darker layer of the stone, and the soft white layer smoothly polished into the background. The image depicts the profile of a beautiful young woman with wavy hair and a soft gaze, wearing a decorative headpiece?and earrings. Sparkling?accent diamonds adorn the jewelry and headpiece, and vibrant gold outlines the intricate details. Surrounding the stone is a bold border, embellished with a textured basketweave design. Four?faceted Burmese rubies symmetrically rest on the border, exhibiting gorgeous raspberry red hues, as they catch the light with every turn. Split shank shoulders flank the centerpiece, and a smoothly polished band extends towards the back. A simply fantastic and unique Victorian ring that blends seamlessly into modern day fashion, it would make the perfect addition to any collection!
Measurements: The ring has a finger size of 6.5, but could be easily resized if desired. The centerpiece measures approximately 7/8" tall and 3/4" wide and rests about 1/2" above the finger when worn. The band measures 1.5mm wide at the back.
Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting. The diamonds and rubies are intact and securely set. There is a slight darkened patina to some of the gold surface, which is normal given its age and adds to its beauty and character.
