An exquisite handmade necklace?from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This stunning piece was originally an antique pin, and is now a beautiful and stylish?conversion piece. The necklace is made of 18kt yellow gold, and features a lovely cherub pendant that hangs from a complimentary gold chain. The cherub's face is?hand-carved from a vibrant opal, which rests between two feathered?gold wings. The carved facial features are exceptionally detailed, including 3-dimensional details and fine curls of hair. The wings are ornately textured?and feature?9 accent diamonds (approximately 1pt each) scattered throughout. Attached to the top of each wing is a strand of gold chain, fastening with a lobster clasp in the back. A single bezel set diamond provides the perfect accent at one side of the chain. This spectacular and unusual pendant is very rare, and would make a one-of-a-kind?addition to any collection!
Measurements: The pendant measures approximately 2" wide and approximately 7/8" tall. The cherub's face measures approximately 1/2" long, 1/2" wide and has a depth of 1/4". The chain measure 15.5" in length.
Condition: The piece is in good antique condition. Besides normal surface wear, there?is no apparent damage to the gold setting, chain, or clasp. All of the diamonds are intact. There is a chip on the right side edge?of the cherub's head, which is not noticeable when the piece is worn, and does not detract from the overall beauty of the design.?
