An absolutely fantastic horseshoe pendant necklace from the Victorian (ca1899) era! Crafted in 18kt yellow gold, the stunning piece, which was originally a pin, is particularly large in size and has a sparkling jewel encrusted surface. Depicting the shape of a wide horseshoe, the piece adorns 21 graduated fine Burma sapphires, which are oval-shaped and beautifully faceted. Collectively, the sapphire stones weigh approximately 3.50ctw and display a striking, vivid blue color. Surrounding the open backed sapphires are 59 sparkling old Rose Cut diamonds, which have an overall weight of approximately 4.80ctw, forming a stunning border along the inside and outside of the entire piece. Four small diamonds are delicately placed in between the largest sapphire stones at the bottom, completing the design perfectly and all of the stones are set within a beautiful yellow gold setting, which features an attractive scalloped wirework design on the sides. The inside of the horseshoe bears a personalized inscription in flowing script, which reads: "Uncle Harry & Aunt Elsie to Phyllis 1899". The horseshoe pendant hangs from a modern 14kt yellow gold chain which fastens at a secure lobster clasp in the back. A real beauty, this outstanding necklace would make an incredible addition to any collection!
